To coincide with the 54th Paris Air Show, Gifas has published a new brochure entitled "Towards low-carbon air travel", providing a summary of the work being done by air transport players on the subject of low-carbon travel.

Visitors to the Paris Air Show were able to visit the Paris Air Lab to discover all the commitments and the very wide range of decarbonisation solutions.

Satellite communication systems address broadcast, broadband and narrowband services to fixed, portable and mobile terminals over global or regional coverage for land, maritime and aeronautical applications. They are well recognised in providing a resilient and ubiquitous service and to be particularly cost effective for multimedia service delivery, broadband connectivity in unserved or underserved areas, wide area sensor networks as well as safety communications. This large range of applications is represented on the picture below.

Radar systems provide location information and imagery for a wide variety of societal applications. The majority of radars are used for the safety of human life, as they have the advantage of being fast, efficient, compact and can run all the time (whatever the weather conditions), day and night. They have also the ability to range, that is to say, "see," for very long distances of up to several thousand kilometres.

Military aircraft are equipped with multiple systems. The most important of these, the Communications, Navigation and Surveillance systems (CNS), provide the same essential and critical safety functions as equivalent systems on commercial aircraft (see civil aviation booklet) and are related to airworthiness.
